Here’s a little bit more from Mindy on their business & how they got started:
1) Tell us about your business & how you got started.
Tim and I have been married for over 35 years and we had talked about starting our own business off and on, over the years. As with everyone, life was busy with careers and children and that dream was left waiting in the wings. Five years ago, we decided to take the leap!” said Mindy. Working with a business broker, we considered several opportunities. Initially, I would be running the business full-time so my 20+ years of sales experience and 13 years in the home storage industry made Tailored Living a natural fit. We decided to buy into a franchise system to take advantage of the established technology and trade relationships, so that we could jumpstart our business without reinventing the wheel. Five years later, the risk paid off, having Tailored Living of Nashville recently recognized as the Franchise of the Year out of all the 100+ North American Franchise locations.
2) What exactly do you offer?
Tailored Living of Nashville offers custom storage solutions for all areas of the home including closets, home offices, pantries, laundry rooms, entertainment centers and mudrooms. With our PremierGarage brand, we also specialize in garage renovations, offering commercial quality epoxy flooring, cabinetry, and accessories to accommodate home gardeners, sports enthusiasts, and busy families.
3) What is your favorite part of your job?
Building relationships and solving problems! It has been an honor and privilege to create a locally owned business that puts people before profits. The profits have come, but we do not sacrifice relationships with our employees and our customers in the interest of the bottom line. We enjoy getting to know our clients and understanding their needs. We’re able to see a path to solving families organizational and storage challenges and we love hearing stories about how these spaces have helped transform a house into an even more beautiful and functional home.
4) Anything potential clients should know about your company, timelines, or how to book?
We offer free in-home design consultations – this allows us to uncover the client’s needs, discuss the vision and potential for each space, and get thorough measurements. When our customers have time, we love doing a follow-up appointment at our Showroom so that they can see finish and accessory options. We use a 3D Design Software, so we’re able to connect our computers to a large screen and work collaboratively with our clients to make any necessary design revisions to insure we’re meeting our clients needs regarding budget, function, and aesthetics. 5) Any general organizational tips you’d like to share to our clients? I know it can feel overwhelming to some people. Maybe a few ways to get started??
I think that people get overwhelmed with the idea of “getting organized”, where to start can absolutely seem daunting. I recommend that people start with one room, or one closet or even one drawer at a time. It helps to get some sense of accomplishment to inspire you to tackle the next space. It’s not uncommon for people to apologize for the “mess” when we come into their homes, but it’s important for people to know that we are there to help, not to judge! Also, it’s a challenge for anyone to get organized if you don’t have the right system or structure in place to accommodate your things. If a closet is set-up as all hanging space, it’s difficult to accommodate shoes, folded garments, and purses. Likewise, if you have some built-in shelves, but they’re not adjustable, it’s nearly impossible to maximize the available space. We can partner with our clients to create the right storage solutions that will create an environment where they can achieve organizational success!
